Farm to Table Showcase at Fair
Features Local and Delicious
Introduces Fresh Out of the Jar Tasting and Community Jar Exhibits
One of the Sonoma-Marin Fair’s most popular features is the Farm to Table
Sustainable Agriculture Showcase which brings the creators of the freshest
produce, delicious dairy and handcrafted foods from farm to table in contact
with the public. Local farmers, ranchers, producers and food artisans will
be on hand in this multi-sensory showcase sponsored by Clover Stornetta
Farms, Cowgirl Creamery and KSRO Radio. Now in an expanded location by the
Wine Garden at the Petaluma Fairgrounds, the Showcase is open from 1 p.m. to
8 p.m. daily.
The Farm to Table Showcase includes a Sustainable Agriculture exhibit, a
marketplace, and a children's interactive play area with a farm to market to
table play area. Back by popular demand is the Olive Oil Tasting Bar. Two
new features include Fresh Out of the Jar Tasting and Community Jar
Exhibits. In the Showcase, fairgoers have a fair-time resource to sample and
buy local and fresh foods throughout all five days of fair.
At The Marketplace which runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (Thursday through
Sunday), fairgoers are invited to sample delicious cheeses, breads, juices,
honey, jams, yogurts and chocolates from some of the following local
producers: Clover Stornetta Farms, Cowgirl Creamery, Point Reyes Blue
Cheese, Carstensen Strawberries, McEvoy, Terra Bella Olive Oil, The Olive
Press, Valley Ford Cheese, Sonoma Syrup, Sonomic Vinegar, Bruno's
iItalianVinegar, Alexander Valley Gourmet, Straus Family Creamery, Wallaby
Yogurt, Gabriel Farms, Marshall's Honey, Rustic Bakery, Viva Cocolate, Whole
Foods Market, Petaluma Bounty, and McClelland Butter. The Marketplace
provides a forum to promote buying local, and supports the people who
preserve the local agricultural heritage and give the community its fresh
food supply.
In the Olive Oil Tasting Bar, Farm to Table will host a daily tasting of our
local olive oil--just as delectable as those grown in the olive groves of
Italy.
Fresh Out of the Jar sponsored by Sonoma County Farm Trails is a new tasting
and sales booth that allows fairgoers to sample an enticing array of jarred
products grown and processed by local farmers as well as learn how and where
the products are made. Available for savoring are the floral notes of
seasonal honeys, the bright berry tastes of local jams, and canned
condiments and sauces.
A Community Jar Exhibit features jars created by local personalities and
residents depicting their contributions to Petaluma’s heritage. Cumulatively
the jars represent Petaluma’s rich cultural tapestry. This creative art
exhibit was developed by PROJECT HERE - a grassroots movement connecting the
citizens of Petaluma to the personalities contributing to local culture and
commerce.
The Farm to Table "Set the Table" exhibit brings together some of the most
delicious foods and producers with a bounty of local foods to view and learn
about who makes and grows them. The exhibit provides the resources and
connection with local farmers and producers from Sonoma County Farm Trails
and Community Alliance with Family Farms (CAFF).
