Fair Time Fun

At the Sonoma-Marin Fair there is always something fun to do! Fair Time Fun includes activities that both young and old fairgoers will enjoy. Events range from the Ham Bone Express and Clo’s Corner Kids Park to the Rawhide Express Solar Train and daily Funnel Cake Eating Contests.

Hambone Express Pig Racing

The Sonoma-Marin Fair boasts “the swiftest swine off the line”, and fairgoers in Petaluma will have a chance to judge for themselves every day of the fair. The show has four races with four celebrity contestants in each race, including Synnona Judd and Claude VanHam. Before each race, the “swinemaster” introduces the four teams: Nashville Runners, Hollywood Runners, Political Runners, and World Champion Heavyweights. The prize at the finish line? A delicious Oreo for the winning pig.

Clo’s Corner Kids Park

Kids can get their driving license at the Toddler Games sponsored by Lee’s Body Shop or join the tractor races at the Kids’ Pedal Tractor Pull sponsored by Sonoma County Tree Experts. The Santa Rosa Rainbow Girls Craft Center has craft projects going throughout the fair and is sponsored by McDowell Drug Task Force. Love the animals? Visit the Great American Petting Zoo sponsored by Family Life Magazine.

Rawhide Express Solar Train
Hop on board this solar powered train for a free ride through the fair. Engineer Ken gives you a tour of the grounds and narrates all the fair highlights.

Cowboy Boot Camp
A big attraction for those who like to pretend is AG-Ventureland’s Cowboy Boot Camp sponsored by American AgCredit. It allows children to pan for gold, saddle a horse, work with horse shoes, make cowboy music, shop at the general store, create cowboy crafts, milk artificial cows, rope steers, learn to lasso, and dress up like a cowboy or cowgirl.


IGX Interactive Gaming Experience
Gamers won’t want to miss this fair feature located inside the Main Exhibit Hall. It’s time to put you Wii skills to test in the Mario Kart Challenge and hundreds of your other favorite games. Each night at 7pm there’s a Mario Kart Tournament.

Hypnotist Chris Mabrey
This is your year to be hypnotized! Hypnotist Chris Mabrey will perform live on the Kiwanis Stage, with two evening shows each day of the fair. Chris brings a special blend of comedy, hypnosis, and music for a show that is entertaining and hilarious. And remember, every show is different because of the hypnotized volunteers!

Funnel Cake Express Funnel Cake Eating Contest
Don’t Miss the Funnel Cake Express Eating Contests behind the Funnel Cake Express booth on the main concourse. Two contests daily with divisions for adults and kids.
 

Carnival
At the Sonoma-Marin Fair, Carnival rides and concerts are free with low admission to the fair. There is a “kiddie” carnival specifically for younger children as well.
